Ok ok, so it's been a while, lets get caught up.
A significant percentage of people I know to be regular readers have expressed confusion at my rather cryptic (but happy) previous update. LSS (long story short) that night Sarah and I went out to Caffe Driade and after copious amounts of chinese tea I worked up enough courage to admit that I like her, a lot. As I'm sure you've guessed by now she too was interested in a relationship and it's been all good ever since.
Ok so we can stop e-mailing Stephen and asking him what the heck he was talking about. :-)
Joeyo (who already had a webpage on one of the coolest sites of the internet (metalab) but has just been automagically upgraded to ibiblio because of the name change, jealous? me? nah.) pointed me to an mp3 song of the DeCSS code that for a short while was available on mp3.com but is now cast back to its original home. It's...a little weird to hear code converted to english put to music but in an odd sort of way it works.
Soon there will be two new additions to the web page, "Quotes from the Compound" which will just be random quotes that people say that Andrew and I deem to be cool and "Enemy of the Week" where every week we will select a new villian to eradicate.
Just to get started: "Never insult anything with the word `robot' in it while in the (Stratford Hills) Geek Compound!" - Andrew
The SHGC's enemy of the week: Dr. Claw. Hmm, no mug shot, a seemingly bionic hand...journeyman?! Naah.
One last bit of major (heh heh) news is that I am seriously considering changing my major from compsci to history or philosophy. I've come to the hard realization that computers are fun to me and programming is fun to me but theorizing about and studying the mathematics of programming is not fun to me. History is my number one choice, with a focus on non-western history but I'm considering several others. I'm going to talk with an advisor on Friday and get the lowdown on my academic options.
